We are in need of coaches for each of the age divisions. Because of our practice & game format, you do not need experience, just a willingness to serve. Mike Potter will be providing the overall practice instructions for all of the age groups and will be working with coaches to help them learn the game and teach the players the basic skills. Please reply to this email if you are willing to help coach.

We are will be staying with the small sided game format that we started in the Spring. Here are some links to various articles about this format:

CHAP Soccer Policies

Welcome to CHAP soccer! We are glad that you have decided to play with us. The following are policies and guidelines that will enable our program to run more smoothly. During the past few years, our soccer teams have grown to over 130 players and 70 families per season. Please read the following carefully. With the number of people involved in the program, we are sure you understand the need for everyone to know our policies and procedures in order for things to run smoothly.

  1. Open Soccer registration will happen ONCE a year, from June 1st through mid-August for the Fall AND Spring seasons. When you register in the Fall, we will assume you are going to play in the Spring, unless you inform us otherwise. We understand not every family will desire to play during both seasons. Please indicate that when you register and adjust payment accordingly. Those families that register during this time will have first priority for team placement. If you decide to wait and register in the Spring, we cannot guarantee any team openings and your child may be placed on a waiting list.
  2. CHAP soccer teams will play in the CARS (Capital Area Recreational Sports) league, with teams from the IHM/St. Casimir School and LA Dragons.
  3. CHAP soccer teams will be coached by volunteers. We are ALWAYS in need of coaches, no experience necessary!
  4. Teams will be filled on a first come, first served basis. You will not be placed on a team until your registration form is received with payment for a least half of the year. When available teams are filled, a waiting list will be started. If enough players are on the waiting list to form an additional team, and if there is enough room in the league to add another team, we will add teams to the league as coaches volunteer to coach them.
  5. We will make every effort to accommodate your requests for team placement, however our number one goal will be to balance teams according to skill level since they will play against each other several times during the season.
  6. Cost for the season is as follows:
    • $35 per player per season (i.e. $85 for Fall & Spring/person). Maximum family charge: $85 per season/ $170 per year. You may split your payment, half of the year being due with your registration and remaining balance being due by April 1st prior to the Spring season.
  7. Uniform shirts will be provided by CHAP to be used during the year. The uniforms will be turned in at the end of the year. In the event a shirt is lost or damaged beyond normal wear and tear, a $15 replacement charge will be assessed.
  8. Players will be required to wear shin guards during all practices and games. Soccer cleats are recommended for all players.
  9. All coaches, players, parents and spectators must demonstrate good sportsmanship in conduct and speech at all times.

If you have any question or concerns, please contact Keith Hall at chapsports@gmail.com or 517-749-0022.

We will be playing with the US Youth Soccer Small Sided Game format, click here for more information

FCA Sports Camp

Posted at 06/30/2016 11:02:12 PM EDT

For those of you looking for an overnight camp experience, this is a great opportunity led by a great organization.

Dan Carr is a volunteer at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp each July in Albion. FCA has been in existence since the 1950's and has been doing sports camps all over the country and the the world ever since. This is his 20th year with FCA Albion camp. It's a phenomenal week. This year, camp runs from July 18-22. It's a overnight camp taking place at Albion College. Last year, the Saltsman brothers attended camp. I would love to have some additional CHAP athletes get involved.

Here is a link to a video about our camp:

Click here for a short video about the camp

The camp is staffed by volunteer coaches and counselors. It is open to athletes entering grades 7-12. As you can see in the video, there are several sports going on during our camp. Each student that enrolls chooses the one sport in which he/she would like to participate. I direct the boys' basketball program.

The cost is $395. Sometimes there is scholarship money available to help bring the cost down to make it affordable for families wishing to send a student. If finances is the only thing keeping an athlete from attending, I will do all that I can to try to find a way to get that young man or young woman into camp.

Please let me know if you know of any basketball players who might be interested in this powerful camp experience.

God bless you!

How to Create Your Account

Posted at 08/16/2013 12:54:10 AM EDT

This new website was designed to make registration simple and easy. All families will need to create a user account. This will give you access to all of the opportunities that CHAP offers. To learn how to create your account, watch this short video:

New Website

Posted at 08/13/2013 11:15:42 PM EDT

Welcome to the new CHAP website!

It has a new look and feel and has been redesigned to provide you with the most up to date information about all of the various programs that we are running each season. The other improvement has been the integration of our registration process with each sport and team(s).

In the past, you would have to enter your contact information every time you registered for a team. Now you only need to provide your contact information once when you create your user profile. When it is time to register for a team, you simply associate each athlete to the appropriate team. If you move or change a phone number, simply log into your account and update your information.

Part of this transition involved changing our vendor to receive payments. After much research, we decided to switch to Dwolla. Any transactions under $10.00 are free and all other transactions are a flat rate of $0.25 per transactions. Dwolla is very similar to Paypal in that you associate your Dwolla account with your bank account. If you do not want to create a Dwolla account, you have the option to pay as a guest each time your register as well.
